When you got a roof thats leaking or damaged, you need someone who can get out there fast and fix it right. Thats exactly what happened with this job we did in Columbus. The homeowner called us because they had some serious damage to their roof and it needed attention quick before more problems started.
Looking at the damage, you could see where the roof had many issues. There was a whole section that got torn up pretty bad, probably from one of those storms we get around here. The shingles were ripped off and the underlayment was exposed. When your roof looks like this, every day you wait is another chance for water to get inside and cause even more damage.
Our team from Supreme Roofing & Exterior got out there same day to take care of it. This is the kind of stuff we handle all the time in Columbus – storm damage, wind damage, hail damage, you name it. The first thing we did was pull off all the damaged shingles and check out what was going on underneath. You cant just slap new shingles over damage and get done with it.
The decking had some issues where water had been getting in. We replaced the rotted plywood and made sure everything was solid before moving forward. This is really important because if you dont fix the structure, your just putting a bandaid on a bigger problem.
Once we had the damaged area all fixed up right from the base, we started laying down new underlayment. You can see the blue synthetic underlayment in some of the pictures – thats what protects your home from water while were working and even after the shingles go on. Its like a backup layer of protection.
This whole repair took us about a day and a half to complete. We worked through some tricky sections where the damage went deeper than it looked at first, but thats why you hire professionals. DIY roof repairs almost always end up costing more in the long run when things go wrong.
Sometimes when we get out to look at damage, we find out that a repair isn’t gonna cut it and you really need a full roof replacement. That wasn’t the case here, but its something to keep in mind. If your roofs getting older and you keep having to do repairs, it might make more financial sense to just replace the whole thing.
